How NEET Biology is structured
NEET Biology draws almost entirely from NCERT Class 11 and 12. The smart way to think about it is by unit weightage: Human Physiology, Genetics & Evolution, Ecology, Cell Biology and Biotechnology together dominate the paper. Diversity and Plant Physiology matter too, but the units below marked high-yield deserve your deepest attention.
Class 11 — Diversity, Structure & Plant Physiology
The foundation year. Diversity chapters are fact-heavy (learn classifications and examples), while the physiology chapters are conceptual and high-yield.

- Anatomy of Flowering Plants
- Structural Organisation in Animals
- Cell: The Unit of Life
- Biomolecules
- Cell Cycle and Cell Division
- Photosynthesis in Higher Plants
- Respiration in Plants
- Plant Growth and Development
Class 11 — Human Physiology (high-yield)
One of the most heavily tested units in the entire paper. Every one of these chapters appears almost every year. Learn the processes, the organs, and the disorders precisely.

Class 12 — Reproduction, Genetics & Evolution (highest-yield)
If you master nothing else, master this block. Genetics and Human Reproduction are among the highest-scoring, most-tested topics in NEET Biology.

Class 12 — Biology in Human Welfare, Biotech & Ecology (high-yield)
Biotechnology and the Ecology unit are dense with direct NCERT questions and are very scoring if read carefully. Do not treat Ecology as an afterthought — it regularly contributes a big chunk of marks.
